For whatever reason this comic reminds me of the Simpsons episode where they escape from Alcatraz and a French shipping boat picks them up as the captain says;
"We hate America too! Come to France and together we will mock the country that saved twice from the Germans!"

Fact: the ABA patterned itself after the French Revolution. The ball was a tribute to the Tricolor, the tri-state region originally had three teams called the New York Liberte ( Les Ballons Bleus ), the New Jersey Egalite ( Petits Blancs) , and the Connecticut Fraternite ( I've got nothing ), and Les Marseilles was played in its entirety before each of these teams' games.
